The goals of the Institute are:
- To educate and train Greek medical doctors (specialized and specialists), Rheumatologists and physicians of all specialties dealing with autoimmune diseases and chronic immune-induced diseases such as Immunologists, Dermatologists, Gastroenterologists, Endocrinologists, Nephrologists, Neurologists, Pneumonologists, General Practitioners etc. others and laboratorians specialties such as Biopathologists / Microbiologists. It also aims at expanding the knowledge in health sciences specialties with a direct connection to rheumatic and autoimmune diseases (eg physiatrists, physiotherapists, nurses, nutritionists, biologists, life scientists, biotechnologists, medical graduates, etc.).
- To perform basic, translational and clinical research in rheumatic and autoimmune diseases
- To inform patients, patients’ associations and societies, and the general public and the about recent developments in rheumatic and autoimmune diseases.
The means by which these objectives are achieved are indicative:
- Organization of the Annual Panhellenic Conference on Rheumatic and Autoimmune Diseases with International Participation
- Organization of Symposia, Workshops and Training Seminars for Doctors and Patients
- Running of an Online Scientific Journal for Doctors and Bioscientists (entitled Excellence in Rheumatic and Autoimmune Diseases)
- Issuance of regular newsletters
- Website with updates, articles, news related to the latest developments in rheumatology and autoimmune diseases for doctors and patients
- Awarding scholarships and cash prizes and awards for the training of doctors and bioscientists
- Cooperation with Greek and International universities, laboratories, institutes and institutes for the promotion of translation and clinical research
